Tech Gadget Review: Nomad Play – Digital Paintbrush by Nomad Brush + Giveaway
UPDATE: The giveaway is over and a winner has been selected. Congratulations Janell Wagner!
We were contacted by Nomad Brush to review their Nomad Play digital paintbrush and boy, are we happy they did. It is designed for little kids, but big kids are going to want to get into the act as well.
As technology grows and changes, art forms grow and change as well. The Nomad Play takes the physical art world, known for its use of crayons and paint, and bridges it with the digital world, known for its use of pixels and vectors. The Nomad Play looks exactly like a traditional paint brush, but interacts with touch screens found on devices such as iPads and iPhones to create digital masterpieces. The screen turns into a canvas and the Nomad Play creates real life brush strokes.
Here is an example of what the brush can do:
Each brush is handcrafted out of maple and comes in four fun colors with embossed designs such as rockets and stars. The bristles are secured with a rubber ferrule that will prevent screens from being scratched.
There are many apps that can be used with the paintbrush. The company recommends several including Kids Paint HD , iDoodle2 lite and Doodle Buddy for iPad.
Things to consider:
1. For digital use only – The Nomad Play looks just like a paintbrush, so it is going to be very important to let your little one know it is only for drawing and painting on a touch screen.
2. Being Gentle – It will withstand normal kid use, but it is important to be somewhat gentle when using the brush with the screen. Heavy tapping should be discouraged.
3. Bristles – It is not uncommon for several of the bristles to fall out over time. It will not decrease the usability.
